“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Viktor Frankl.
An Austrian psychologist and Holocaust survivor, Frankl used the power of his dreams, his creative imagination and his attitude to survive Auschwitz and go on to live a successful life.
He was right about attitude. Attitude – emotions, beliefs and behaviours toward a particular object, person, thing, or event – affects everything. Attitude sets us up for success or failure. Joy or pain. Positivity or negativity. Enjoyment or suffering. Even good health or ill health.
Having a great attitude can take us far. Emotionally intelligent individuals would rather couple up with, and employ or work with, people who have the ‘right attitude’.
Attitude determines outcome. Attitude provides a winning edge. A strong and positive attitude is much more likely to bring successful results, in relationships, in work, in health and in life.
With a positive and enthusiastic attitude we vibrate higher, and with a negative and complaining attitude we vibrate lower. And like attracts like. The right attitude is a turn on, and a poor attitude is a turn off.
Luckily, we can choose our attitude in every moment. So, it’s never too late to change our attitude, and steer ourselves down a better route.
Attitude reflects behaviour. Our attitude towards someone can determine their attitude towards us. If we smile at someone and remain calm and respectful in a challenging situation, that person is much more likely to smile back and respond in a calm and respectful manner.
Choose your attitude today, and in every moment! If you’re prone to suffering and complaining, check your attitude and make an effort to switch it up. Not only will you benefit, but so will everyone you come into contact with.
We can choose our attitude in every moment! Let’s choose wisely!
